# “Level IV” Jury The “Level IV” Jury is a checkpoint jury policy across the entire UNLV School of Music for Bachelor of Music majors in any concentration (Performance, Education, Composition etc.). It is the Jury at the conclusion of the fourth level of Applied Lessons (MUSA 228). ## Percussion Area Level IV Requirements All percussionists entering the Level IV Jury must show completion of the [[4.3.0 What are Proficiency Minimums#Lower-Division Minimums ("Level IV")|Lower-Division Minimum Proficiencies]] along with the proof of ownership of the following items: - *Teaching Percussion* by Gary Cook - A Concert Tambourine with case and beeswax - A Triangle with case, clip, and set of beaters - Three hardnesses of timpani mallets - A Hi-hat clutch We understand the purchase of these materials does represent a substantial investment for each student. However, these items are the essential tools for any professional percussionist. These accoutrements represent only a *fraction* of a percussionist's personal inventory instrument inventory needs. Over time, percussionists will complement this inventory with more specialized sticks, mallets, and other equipments to suit their needs.
