Course: [[MUS 499 - Senior Recital|MUS 499]]. Shared rules for all recitals: [[4.6.0 Hearings and Minimums]].
## Minimum Requirements
**Who:** Undergraduates enrolled in MUSA 428 and MUS 499, majoring in Performance.
**Duration:**
- 40–50 minutes of music, minimum.
- 60 minutes total runtime, maximum.
**Repertoire, at minimum:**
- Concert Snare Drum
- Marimba
- Vibraphone
- Timpani
- Multiple Percussion

## Hearing Requirements
- Your hearing happens at least 14 days before your recital date.
- It runs 40–60 minutes with faculty. All applied faculty attend.
- Perform your recital repertoire for feedback.
- Bring a rough draft of your Program and Program Notes.
> [!Warning] The hearing is a gate
> Faculty determine at the hearing whether your preparation and program are sufficient for the scheduled date.
## Program Note Requirements
- Write your own program notes. Copied notes are unacceptable.
- Format the program and notes professionally for your audience.
- Rough drafts are reviewed at your Recital Hearing.
- Final documents are due to the Recital Coordinator one week before your hearing.
- Templates are available on Slack or by email.
## Scheduling and Logistics
- Finalize your date by the first Friday of the semester, or a date will be given to you.
- Perform within the first ten (10) weeks of the semester. Later dates require faculty approval.
- No Saturday or Sunday recitals. No exceptions.
- No rescheduling once finalized. Only extenuating circumstances, with faculty approval, allow a change.
- Location defaults to HFA 235. The "Recital Marimba" is only available in HFA 235.
- Deliverables due one week before your hearing: Recital Program, Program Notes, Stage Plot, Recital Poster (no design changes after approval), Recital PowerPoint/Slideshow.
## Production Content
- Your recital assesses your musical and technical development.
- Production beyond your direct artistic execution is outside the assessment: theatrical lighting, projection, non-musical performers, non-standard sets, externally funded design.
- Faculty may require changes to any element that obscures evaluation or creates inequitable conditions.
> [!failure] No approval, no recital
> Demonstrate all production plans by your Recital Hearing and receive written approval. Non-conforming recitals will not receive program approval to proceed.
