# A note about our drum set curriculum Our drum set curriculum is designed to be "Multi-Adjacent" focusing primarily on limb coordination, independence, fluidity, tone, balance, and other first principles of drumming. While a student is also learning the _vast_ list of expectations across the other instruments, we do not expect students to drill patterns and more typical drum set pedagogy approaches. Thus, drum set is an extension of the other instruments where the complexities of four-limb control is paramount. The goal being that **completing this curriculum establishes the mind-muscle fundamentals to grasp patterns and advanced concepts later on.** Ultimately, we are _not_ a drum set program (which is the focus of our Jazz Area). **To study ONLY drum set at UNLV, we advise you enroll as a Jazz and Commercial Music Major**
